Throwback Thursday: HPPS

A lot of us have been in the CPPS community for a very long time, some since the get go of iCPv1. I joined this wonderful community way back when iCPv2 released, which to me was one of the most popular CPPSes to exist back in those days. Ever since iCPv2 closed its doors, many CPPSes have emerged since then. One of them is HPPS.

One thing that life has taught me since I joined the community is, it’s not about how long you have been here or how many people you have met. It’s about, how much you’ve grown over the years and the people who have stood by you throughout these years and also the memories you’ve made that you can cherish and that is exactly what I’ll be sharing with you all today.

HPPS (Hidden Penguin Private Server) was owned by Fangs, Hersh and Unknown. Three other staff member’s who I also remember were Static, Roman & Cooldude170. HPPS was released late March 2011. It was one of the best CPPSes during the 2011 era and you did not have to download a file to play it either. HPPS had custom rooms and a beautiful looking website. Unfortunately HPPS closed its doors for good months later (I don’t quite remember the date) but it was, due to a database leak as far as I could remember and even though there was a high demand for it to come back, it never did. It however did leave a lot of good memories behind. Over the years, a lot of things have changed, as mentioned above a lot of CPPSes have emerged since then and also closed at the same time. But the one thing that hasn’t changed is the friendship myself and Static held, we became the best of friends ever since we met at HPPS and worked on several projects for the community. I also had the privilege to work along with Cooldude170 when Rile5 existed, which I will forever cherish.

The best designed room in my opinion was the Town, it was the hub where everyone would hang out and have fun.

The design of the town was vibrant, the ground was colored in dark green to make it look like grass. The welcome poster, along with the flowers on each side added even more beauty to it. The Coffee Shop turned into a floating barn with the help of Nitrogen filled balloons.

The Clothing Shop looked like a candy shop with its delicious design, even though it’s been 5 years since HPPS shut down, I’ve never ever seen designs like this. Simple yet beautiful. Well, that’s not all though, there’s more where that came from! The beach was no ordinary beach, it was more of a park with a lake. Wanna go fishing? This would be the hotspot You can probably spot the little devil (me) in the video below – iNeil

Had a bad day? Well, there was this one particular room where you could get some air and also hang out with the other penguins on a mountain touching the sky. You could also watch the phenomenal aurora in the beautiful night sky using specially made 3D glasses

HPPS did have a few custom features such as Penguin Size, Moonwalk, Walk On Walls, etc. It also had custom items like their own beta hat and custom commands where you could get another user’s information such their ID using their username and vice versa.

Last but not the least, as mentioned earlier HPPS had a beautiful website design. It had a registration page where you could sign up for an account, the play page to play the game, the staff page made it easy for you to learn about their team and last a contact page just in case if you needed any sort of help in regards to the server. Below it was a slide-show providing you an inside view of HPPS.

As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. For those of you who have also played HPPS, feel free to share your memories in the comments below. Thanks for reading! Don’t look at the mirror for too long and also don’t get scared of the dark clouds and the lightning  Have a spooky week ahead
